SERVICE AND CARE

The Children's Transitional Residence (CTR) interdisciplinary team addresses the comprehensive needs of children with psychiatric disorders and addresses the needs of the families. CTR provides 24 hour, 7 day a week supports for children ages 5-11. The children residing at CTR are provided with a safe and welcoming environment that allows for them to express, communicate and process their feelings and experiences. With this supportive environment, children have access to intense therapeutic supports necessary to addressing the presenting challenges and obstacles. Each child receiving services at CTR will be provided with individual, group, and family therapy by an licensed clinician, psychiatric treatment and medication monitoring services, which include routine and emergency psychiatric evaluations (completed by a licensed Psychiatrist and/or Advanced Practicing Nurse (APN), behavioral management in a milieu setting, crisis intervention services, recreation therapies, community outings, case management, collaboration with caregivers and DCPP, structured allied therapies including group therapy and educational supports including special education and IEP services. The children residing at CTR will attend Rutgers Therapeutic Day school where they will be evaluated for IEP needs, academic supports and behavioral supports. Off-site and on-site visits are encouraged once the family/caregiver, DCPP and assigned clinician are in agreement that it is clinically appropriate and beneficial. Once determined appropriate, the families are encouraged to attend weekly visits or engage in weekend passes with their child. While home visits of varying duration may be part of the child's treatment, he/she may be returned to the program at any time.
