Lisa Cox, PhD, RN, PMHCNS-BC

Vice President of Operations

Lisa Cox, PhD, RN, PMHCNS-BC, is the Vice President of Operations at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC).  She joined UBHC in January of 2018.  Lisa earned her PhD in Nursing Education from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, her MSN from Temple University and a BSN from The College of New Jersey.  She has worked in Behavioral Health since 1996 and maintains ANCC certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. Prior to UBHC, Lisa was the Chief Executive Officer at Fairmount Behavioral Health System. Previously, Lisa worked for Capital Health for 13 years with progressive leadership positions including Nurse Manager for the Inpatient Mental Health Unit, Director of Mental Health Services and Divisional Director of Patient Care Services where her areas of responsibility included a psychiatric screening center, a partial hospitalization program, an inpatient mental health unit, two medical/surgical units, a cardiac telemetry unit, a surgical/trauma unit, and a medical observation unit.   Lisa’s doctoral dissertation focused on the nursing student experience during their psychiatric didactic and clinical experiences and how that experience influenced their view of psychiatric nursing as a specialty/profession choice. Lisa also teaches in undergraduate and graduate RN programs at Thomas Edison State College and Capella University.  She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, American Organization of Nurse Executives, Sigma Theta Tau, and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.
