Child & Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program - Newark

Newark Child Partial Hospitalization Program is a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for children ages 13-17. Youth in this program have typically had histories of pyshciatric hospitalizations, residential treatment or are at risk for such treatment.  The PHP provides full day programming from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

The full day program- (8:30 AM to 2:30 PM) provides 5 hours of psychiatric and therapeutic services.  The school instruction is devised based on the school the youth attend.  Education is typically completed at home.  

The clinical services for both the full day components include individual and family therapy with a primary clinician (social worker or psychologist), and group therapy by age group. Daily milieu activities are led by mental health specialists. Within the context of program services,  the youth have opportunities to develop social and adaptive skills, while stabilizing acute symptoms. All youthare examined psychiatrically prior to admission to the program.  Additionally, all youth are followed by a medical provider regularly throughout their course in treatment.  

Referral to the Newark Child Partial Hospitalization Program are made by professionals by completing a referral packet.  Youth may also be referred to the Newark Child Partial Hospitalization Program from other youth outpatient services by consulting with the child's primary therapist.
