John Lee is a doctoral candidate in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at Fordham University and a Psychology Intern at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care in Newark, New Jersey. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Emory University and his Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Fordham University.
John’s research focuses on substance use patterns across the lifespan, with particular attention to developmental risk factors, polysubstance use, and emerging trends such as e-cigarette use among adolescents and young adults. His work aims to better understand the psychological, social, and contextual factors that shape substance use and mental health outcomes over time.
Clinically, John has experience working with adolescents and adults presenting with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, panic attacks, trauma-related symptoms, substance use, executive functioning difficulties, emotion dysregulation, and traumatic brain injuries. His therapeutic approach is grounded primarily in cognitive-behavioral therapy and emphasizes collaborative, structured, and evidence-based care tailored to each individual’s needs, strengths, and goals.
As a Psychology Intern at Rutgers UBHC, John completes his major rotation with Student Health Services and his minor rotation with Substance Abuse Treatment Services (SATS). These experiences allow him to further develop his interests in behavioral health, substance use treatment, and the integration of psychological care within multidisciplinary healthcare settings.
