Jun Shim is a board-certified Family Health and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She studied for a BSN in Seoul, South Korea, and worked in Med-Surg/Psych units for a few years before relocating to the US. Jun was working at the endoscopy unit as a GI nurse when she enrolled in the FNP program. Since graduating from the FNP program at Rutgers (formerly UMDNJ) in 2012, Jun has worked as a Family NP, primarily in Urgent Care/Occupational Health. While working at urgent care centers, she encountered numerous patients who did not know how to take care of their mental health issues. Jun felt the need to provide integrated care at that time, which involves behavioral health services within the primary care setting. Consequently, she enrolled in a Post-Master's Mental Health NP program and became a mental health NP. As a fellow, Jun would like to learn more about integrated care, a holistic and interprofessional approach to healthcare services.
