Training and Consultation Specialist


Katie Hilton, LPC, is a training and consultation specialist with expertise in coordinating, developing, and delivering professional trainings and consultation services within the RUBHC Behavioral Research and Training Institute. With a career spanning nearly two decades, Katie has consistently demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the quality of behavioral health services. Since joining RUBHC in 2004, Katie has amassed extensive experience in supporting individuals and families with diverse backgrounds, specializing in the treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses and substance use disorders, In her previous role as the head of the RUBHC Monmouth Junction mental health clinic, Katie served as the Program Manager, overseeing Adult Acute Partial Hospitalization and Traditional Outpatient Services. Notably, she collaborated with the Department of Schizophrenia Research on an Attention Shaping Project, demonstrating her dedication to innovative therapeutic approaches. Furthermore, Katie spearheaded a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment group for clients with PTSD in partnership with researchers from Boston University, showcasing her commitment to evidence-based practices and interdisciplinary collaboration. She has facilitated professional development events for RUBHC staff and staff state-wide, focusing on person-centered, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based treatments. Moreover, Katie has played a pivotal role in grant-funded projects, partnering with organizations such as SAMHSA, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Children and Families, demonstrating her ability to translate research into practical applications. Katie's dedication to education development is evident through her involvement with the Center for Integrated Care at Rutgers Health. Collaborating with the CIC team, she supports Integrated Care fellows through didactic sessions and provides mentorship throughout their fellowship year. Katie has worked to develop the annual Didactic training series to provide the fellows with learning opportunities on a variety of topics, including subject area such as Behavioral Health, SUD, Medical Diagnoses, Implementation Science, the Integrated Care model and Healthcare Financing.
