Karen is a Licensed Professional Counselor who graduated with a Masters from Kean University, specializing in Counselor Education. Additionally, she received her K-8 teacher certification in 1997. She has over 30 years of experience working in the mental health field in a variety of settings, including emergency rooms, client homes and office-based practices. Karen was part of the first team of Traumatic Loss Coordinators in the state and held that position from 2001-2019. The first year of the grant also focused a great deal on 9/11 and she was the Team Leader as a Disaster Response Crisis Counselor and with Project Phoenix. Currently, she operates Bright Counseling and Consulting, LLC which provides in home services to youth and their families and provides trainings and in services on a variety of topics including Suicide Awareness, Prevention, Grief and Loss, Parenting Support, and Community Responses to Loss.
