Newark - Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP)
Patient Services Include:
Newark - Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP) initiative is funded through the NJ Division of Mental Health, and is housed within the Newark Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services.
This initiative provides youth with an intensive level of care in the outpatient unit that includes, individual, family and group therapy, along with psychiatric management services, if recommended. This level of care is for youth stepping down from a partial hospitalization level of care or requiring a more intensive level of treatment then the traditional outpatient services.
The IOP provides:
- Groups that meet twice weekly with a focus on:
1st group (1 hour) session focuses on thematic activities such as exploring family issues, self esteem and coping skills, or exploring feelings.
2nd group (2 hours) session focuses on providing updates on behavioral goals and supervised play time. Structured activities that will support the weekly theme and discussion.
- 12 consecutive weeks of programming
- All youth in the IOP will be expected to keep regular appointments for psychiatric management, individual and family weekly psychotherapy sessions.
Referrals to this service can be made by calling the ACCESS Center at 1-800-969-5300 for an appointment. Youth may also be referred to this initiative from the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services, by consulting with the youth's primary therapist.
