Behavioral Health & Addiction Services

Comprehensive behavioral health and addiction services, offering the right level of care for every stage of life.

A Message from Our Chief Medical Officer

Welcome to Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. At UBHC, we believe exceptional behavioral health care begins with a simple commitment: to provide every person we serve with the highest quality care, delivered with compassion, dignity, and respect. Our clinicians bring together evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and a genuine understanding of the individuals and families who entrust us with their care. As an academic behavioral health system, we have the opportunity—and the responsibility—to continually improve the care we provide while never losing sight of the person at the center of it.

Behavioral health needs can arise at any age and at many different points in a person’s life. Our goal is to meet people where they are, both in their individual journey and in the level of care they need. Across UBHC, we provide a broad continuum of behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults—from community-based and outpatient care to more intensive and acute services. This breadth allows us to support people through periods of crisis, recovery, and long-term wellness while working closely with families, communities, and our health care partners.

We are also committed to shaping the future of behavioral health care. As part of Rutgers Health, UBHC brings together clinical care, education, research, and innovation in ways that few behavioral health organizations can. Through initiatives such as the Brandt Behavioral Health Treatment Center and Research Institute, the continued development of state-of-the-art models of care, and our partnerships across Rutgers and throughout New Jersey, we are working to translate discovery into better care for the people and communities we serve. Just as importantly, we are educating and mentoring the next generation of behavioral health professionals who will carry this work forward.

It is a privilege to work alongside the extraordinary clinicians and staff of UBHC and to serve the individuals, families, and communities who rely on us. I invite you to explore our programs and learn more about the many ways Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care is working to improve behavioral health today while helping to build the care of tomorrow.

Sincerely,
Keith R. Stowell, MD, MSPH, MBA
